Boxford
Drills
The Boxford drilling
machines are of robust construction and made from quality materials.
To obtain accurate alignment, the head and table are located on precision
ground steel tube housed in a substantial base. Both the head and
table can be rotated about the column, with the PD4 and PD8 having
the additional facility of being able to clamp the head on a safety
ring anywhere along the column. This spindle movement is obtained
by a rack and pinion operated by a three star lever with adjustable
spring return.
All Boxford drilling machines have the essential safety features of
a telescopic chuck guard, push button starter with overload and no
volt protection and a safety cut out switch which stops the motor
immediately the guard is opened. All the Boxford drills can be fitted
with low voltage lighting or an emergency foot operated switch for
improved vision and safety A quick locking direct reading depth stop
is provided as standard with positive location at zero.

The Boxford PD5 is
a bench top drilling machine, operated from the domestic electricity
supply. Its lightweight and compact size makes it ideal when space is
restricted. A rack operated circular table and drill chuck are included
as standard equipment.
The Boxford PD4 and PD8, either bench top or pedestal floor-mounted,
are renowned for their heavy duty construction and high accuracy The
electrical supply requirement is 3 phase with domestic single phase
available as an option. The PD8 is superior to the PD4 in capacity (19mm
instead of 13mm) and speed range, with its eight speeds including an
extra 4 low speeds for reaming and tapping in addition to normal drilling
operations. The internal No.2 Morse Taper of the Boxford PD4 and PD8
allows the fitting of standard drill chucks or a mortising attachment
for woodworking operation.
