With every purchase of a Boxford machine you will receive a free Curriculum CD.

This CD contains Teacher Resource Guides and Student Curriculum Books for various Boxford machines saved as Adobe Acrobat files. This makes them easy to read on screen or to print as a useful teaching resource. In addition we have also included a selection of Multimedia based resources using videos and animations to demonstrate a variety of CNC and CAD/CAM issues.

Teacher Resource Guides

The Teacher Resource Guides have been specially written to give teachers a thorough grounding in how their new Boxford machine works so that they can be of greater assistance to their students when working through the projects included.

The Teachers Resource Guides for the Boxford DUET, MT2, Lathe and Mill machines have been designed to give you a thorough grounding in the use of your Boxford machine from the most basic steps.

All the Teachers Resource Guides begin with 'a getting to know' your machine section which will have features on 'Recording Machine Datums, Offsets, and Tool Libraries', 'Safety Considerations', 'Stopping the Machine', 'The Control Panel' and 'Setting up your machine'.

The guides then move onto 'Resetting X Y & Z Datums' (Mill) or 'Resetting X and Z Datums and Chuck Workshift Values' (Lathe) then 'Fitting Tools', 'Adding or Changing Tools in the Tool Library', 'Design Tips' and 'Trouble Shooting'.

The guides finish off with tips and hints for delivering the associated projects, 'Spinning Top Lathe Project' or '3D Tic Tac Toe Mill Project' including 'Materials Needed', 'Teaching Considerations', 'Evaluation', and 'Design Tips'. We believe the guides are such a detailed resource you will find them invaluable when beginning your CAD/CAM curriculum delivery.

Curriculum Books

The curriculum books are designed to take the student by the hand through the process of manufacturing their first part. The books make good use of tables, diagrams, screen shots and photographs to carefully illustrate each point.

The Mill Curriculum book will take students through the manufacture of a Tic Tac Toe game and the Lathe book takes through the manufacture of a Spinning Top (both pictured right).

There are prompts along the way for the student to get the teacher to check their progress through sections, which include 'Creating the CAD file', 'Background Information', 'Coordinate Systems', 'Simulating the Part Production', 'Manufacturing the Part' plus others. Their are also worksheets so the student can test their knowledge as they go.

Multimedia Resources

The multimedia resources contained on the CD cover a range of topics. There is a presentation called What is CAD/CAM which makes use of pictures, animations, videos and a voice over to introduce the concepts of CAD/CAM. These resources are particularly useful for lessons were a machine may not be available. For example there are videos of the machining process for both Lathe and Mill, presentations showing a variety of CAD/CAM procedures and multiple choice tests that the student can complete on-screen.
