CAD/CAM Labs

We offer complete ‘labs’ for schools comprising of student workstations for individual computer aided design which are then linked to the computer controlled machinery, such as lathes and mills. All the workstations are also networked together and linked to a central tutor console, offering the optimum teaching and monitoring tool for the whole class.

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL1

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL1

This lab provides a machine tool per student computer workstation, which doubles as a machine controller. We believe the best machine for this lab is the DUET because of its ability to operate as both a lathe or a mill/drill – ideal for teaching all aspects of computer aided manufacturing. The software allows students to design, view a 3D simulation and manufacture a component in just minutes.

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL2

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL2

This lab provides four computer controlled lathes and four computer controlled mill/drill machines. Their PC controllers double as computer aided design and manufacturing workstations, but seven additional student workstations can also be linked to each machine, enabling students to design their components and connect via the network to their chosen machine for manufacture. The software allows students to design, view a 3D simulation and manufacture a component in just minutes.

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL4

Boxford CAD/CAM Lab BCCL4

This lab provides the larger, industry standard computer controlled machines which are connected to a network of student workstations. The BCCL4 offers all the advantages of the BCCL1 and BCCL2, yet allows more complex, larger components to be manufactured. The CNC controllers in BCCL4 are external and adjacent to the machine tools so available for other uses.

Boxford Flexible Manufacturing Systems(FMS) Laboratory – BFMS1

This lab has all the features of BCCL4, but also includes a robot on a sliding horizontal base, which can service the machine tools. It can also input raw material for machining and store finished components in an adjacent pallet rack.

Boxford Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Laboratory – BCIM1

Boxford Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Laboratory – BCIM1

This lab has all the features of the BCCL4 but also includes robotics and process control for industrial quality computer integrated machining. Managed from a central control, the cell is centred around a loop conveyor belt which transports components on pallets to and from a central storage area, via the manufacturing and inspection processes. The manufacturing area consists of two computer controlled machine tools, serviced by a robot mounted on a horizontal slide base, which also takes components from and returns them to the conveyor. A third robot removes and replaces components onto the conveyor for inspection. All robots can be programmed for your requirements and workstation software includes robot simulation.
